platform letter from Meg Whitman

Dear Fellow Californian

Thank you for taking a few moments to learn more about my ideas for building A New California. I appreciate your interest in my campaign and hope my policy agenda will provide you with a better understanding of the type of governor I hope to be.

This is a very difficult time in our state’s history, but I am still optimistic about California’s future. Ronald Reagan once said that America is too great for small dreams. The same is true for our Golden State.

I am running for governor because I believe everything is still possible in California. But to restore the promise of our state, we must first clean up the mess in Sacramento. We have to be honest about our problems, offer grown-up solutions and put an end to the partisan bickering and hand-wringing that is business as usual.

My campaign is focused on three primary goals:

I am running to reinvigorate California’s economic potential and help employers create two million new jobs by the beginning of 2015.

I am running to rid our state government of waste, duplication and inefficiency so we can get control of runaway spending and create long-term fiscal stability.

I am running to fix our failing schools so we can give our children the opportunity to advance up the economic ladder and achieve their fullest potential.

If you have ideas on how we can move California forward, please contact our campaign. We will listen. We want this campaign to be special, one that addresses your concerns and speaks to your hopes for what A New California can be.

Sincerely,

Meg Whitman
