Getting Around

Get Started

Register: To create an account on MegWhitman.com, just click on the Sign in to My MegWhitman link in the upper right of the home page. Fill out the information on the resulting page, and you are registered!

Create your Profile: Your Profile is where you can let other Supporters and Californians know a little bit about you and what you are passionate about for this great state - your California dreams! You can select a California-related image to represent you on the site, or you can upload a picture of your own. To get started creating your Profile page, just click on My MegWhitman on the upper right area of the homepage. Let us know who you are, where you live, what you do, or your favorite places in California. Upload a California-related image to represent you on the site, or use one of your own (don't worry you can always update this page later).

The more active you are within the community the more complete your Profile page will become. From your Profile page you can view your most recent stories (including your draft stories) and the groups you have joined. You can manage your account from your profile page--set email notification preferences and change your password or email address. You can also view your Profile page (or the Profile pages of other Supporters) by clicking on a username wherever it appears on the site.

Add your story: Tell us your concerns, your hopes, your ideas, and your dreams for California. Your voice can help create a shared understanding of the issues that face this great state. Meg Whitman can't do this without you. And she just might use your story!

Click on the "Create a New Story" link on the right side of your Profile page, and start writing. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words! Try uploading your own photos or short video to supplement your story, or use one of our California-related images. Once you've finished, choose one or more categories for your story. You can also show where your story happened. Enter the country, state, city, zip code or address where it took place and we will map it.

Be heard: Make sure stories get the attention they deserve. The share feature, found on all story pages, allows you to reach a broader audience using sites like as Facebook, Digg, and StumbleUpon to share your favorite stories. Once you've signed in, you can also email stories to friends using the "Email this to a Friend" link in the Participate box on the right hand side of a story page.

Become a part of the Community

Connect with others. Here's how:

Create a Group: This is the Power of Many-people like you coming together to help Meg Whitman build A New California. Groups are a place for Supporters to discuss and to tackle specific issues together. You can form a Group around geographic locations, specific issues, age groups, or any other common ground found by Supporters. A link to "Create a Group" will be found in the Participate box on the right hand side of your Profile page. When creating a Group, you will be able to name it, give it a description, and add images or even video.

To see a list of all currently established Groups, select Groups in the drop-down choices under CALIFORNIANS at the top of any page. If you find a Group you would like to join, membership is easy -- just click the "become a member" link in the Participate box on the right side of the Group page. If you find a story that you think belongs in the Group, you can connect it directly from the story page (using the tools on the right hand side of the page). All Group members can add helpful links and web resources to the Group page, or simply join in the discussion.

Get involved: If you find a story that you relate to, are intrigued by, or just have something to share about the topic, be sure to leave a comment. Ask a question, post your views or just give a pat on the back to the author.

Give tokens: Reward the stories you like. If you're moved by another Supporter's story, leave a token! Tokens are a way for Supporters to provide a quick response to the author of a story. The token icons are all official symbols of the State of California. Give the highly-treasured Gold token to say "This is good as gold!" The California Grizzly Bear designates "This is a powerful statement." The stately California Redwood is used to signify "This is remarkable!" The California Valley Quail denotes "This is good information."

Let us know what you think. We're always looking for feedback. You can ask questions or leave suggestions on the Talk To Meg forum, which can be accessed using the Talk To Meg link that can be found under Californians in the drop-down menus at the top of any page.
