Meg Whitman leads ticket ‘of the future’
June 25, 2010
It’s the most diverse Republican ticket California has ever seen. A ticket that reflects the diversity of the state and represents the future of what California can be.
This fall’s Republican ticket, led by Meg Whitman, is a team that voters say will foster job growth, restore fiscal responsibility in Sacramento and get California back on track. And across the state this week, Meg is joining her fellow candidates to build momentum and win over Californians in November. What's unusual is the broad range of private-sector experience among the candidates on the ticket -- including successful businessmen and women from across the state who are now choosing public service.
“We have a chance to make history this November," Meg said at an event with the Republican ticket in Stockton June 22. "Can you imagine if all of us got elected to office, what a difference this could make to the state of California?”
Joining Meg on the ticket is former Hewlett-Packard CEO and U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina, Lt. Gov. candidate Abel Maldonado, state Sen. Tony Strickland who’s running for Controller, state Sen. Mimi Walters who’s running for Treasurer, Secretary of State candidate Damon Dunn and Attorney General candidate Steve Cooley.
“I think this election is about the future, not the past,” Fiorina said. “This election is about results, not rhetoric. And I think this election is about the kind of nation and the kind of state we want to be. This ticket is the future.”
In the governor’s race, Meg will face off against Jerry Brown, a career politician who has a legacy of 40 years of broken promises and failed policies. This week, Meg promised voters a “stark contrast” between Brown and her candidacy, which is centered on delivering results by bringing common-sense solutions to government, managing complex budgets and tackling tough challenges through teamwork and innovation.
With Meg at the helm of that team, Californians say they’ll regain confidence in their state and California will be returned to a place of prosperity and opportunity.
“Leaders reveal themselves, and Meg has revealed herself as a leader in the primary, she’s done so in the private sector, and she’ll do so come again in November,” said radio talk show host Eric Hogue. “The future of California, the future of the economic status of California, even the country, is all in this ticket. You vote this ticket, you vote in a new direction.”
