Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin endorses Meg Whitman

Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin believes Meg has “the problem solving skills that we need. She’s got the entrepreneurial spirit, the innovative drive and a fresh perspective.” She says, “That’s what it’s going to take to move California forward and I think she brings that to the table.”

Swearengin, who endorsed Meg a few weeks ago, will serve as one of her campaign co-chairs. Swearengin is the only woman to serve as mayor of one of California’s top ten largest cities. She was sworn in as mayor of Fresno, California’s fifth largest city, in January.

Capitol Weekly: Meg opens up wide lead in race to be GOP nominee

Former eBay executive Meg Whitman has opened up a wide lead in the Republican race for governor, according to the latest Capitol Weekly/Probolsky Research poll.

About a third of Republicans and decline-to-state voters who said they intend to vote Republican said they favor Whitman, who has a 3-to-1 edge over rival contender Tom Campbell, Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner remains stuck in a distant third, with 5.5 percent of Republican support.
